Check out the story of what we are doing with your support... !

Alpine Century is your opportunity to ride through some of Oregon's wild and scenic beauty on some of the best cycling roads in the Northwest, Alsea Scenic Byway and Lobster Valley Road. Challenging ascents and descents, rest stops and SAG support staffed by friendly local volunteers, and fresh local food served to you at the completion of the ride.Check out this brief video of highlights.

The 50-mile or 100-mile routes include 4000 ft or 6000 ft elevation gain and loss, plus the chance to ride the gorgeous Alsea Scenic Byway and Lobster Valley Road.

For maps, GPS and elevation profiles for both of the routes, click here.

Local volunteers love serving you snacks at the rest stops and a terrific fresh gourmet lunch at the end. Your registration supports the low-cost pre-school, recycling center, community garden, and other programs at Alpine Community Center.

Pre-registration is required and continues until August 4. All riders are entered in the drawing. Click here to pre-register.

Safety and support are key as you negotiate the climbing, Highway 34 leg, the steep climb and descent in Lobster Valley,  and the switchback descent climaxing the ride into the Alpine. Headgear is required!

Experienced and caring staff provide support at rest stops, signage warns motorists, and friendly SAG support cruises the loop to provide assistance all along the route, with friendly people and great food awaiting you after a nice ride on a warm summer day.

What You Need

Helmet: Our team is doing everything to make this tour a safe and fun ride for you. You can help with proper head protection. Riders must wear an ANSI or Snell approved helmet while riding.

Clothes and Sunscreen: Bring your sunglasses and sun screen! Two water bottles are also advisable for a hot, August ride.

And just in case, tuck away a windbreaker, gloves and a rain jacket. After all this is Oregon!

Tubes and Tools: A fleet of SAG support will be patrolling to help you out of any minor jams you might encounter. But for simple flats, bring a patch kit, spare inner tube, and a frame pump. Stock your tool kit with everything you need to adjust spokes and brakes, and mend a chain.

Rules of the road will apply. Ride single file at all times.
